Studio54 - What's that?
Studio 54 was the legendary night club in Manhattan, New York, during the disco era. The glamorous club opened up at April 26th 1977 in a former TV-studio. The address was 254 West 54th street, New York, New York, and thereof the name Studio54.
During the club?s glory days it was visited by the biggest celeberties like Mick Jagger, Andy Warhol, Grace Jones, Liza Minelli, John Travolta, John Belushi, Truman Capote, Björn Borg and Donald Trump.
Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager were the founders and owners until early 1980 when the got sentenced to jail for tax fraud. Steve Rubell spent 1, 5 years in jail, but reopened the club once he got released. But the party was over and the club closed for good in 1986.
The exciting story of the famous night club was later turned into a movie, named Studio54, starring Ryan Phillippe, Mike Myers, Selma Hayek and Neve Campbell.
